Learn to Play in a Music Group: Grades K-6
Tuition: $99

The Music Loft, LLC
The Music Loft, LLC has created a video-on-demand enrichment program for elementary schools. Each video is interactive, informative and engaging. Classes come with printable materials for home use and have been created by our certified music educators. They are sure to be a bright spot in the children’s day!

Introduction to Ukulele: Grades 2-3
Introduction to Ukulele provides an easy and enjoyable start to ukulele playing. No previous knowledge of music or ukulele is necessary. You will learn the parts of the instrument, how to hold it, how to play 4 essential chords along with strumming techniques. The songs are easy, contemporary, appropriate, and are fun to play. Songs include “Country Roads”, “Iko Iko”, “Roar” and more!
Requirements: Students will need a Ukulele at home to participate. Ukulele’s should be tuned by a local music store before the first lesson. Draw the Music: K-6
Get in touch with your artistic side! In this hands-on class you will learn about basic elements of art and use these elements to paint/draw what the music makes you think or feel. Your instructor will take you through a musical journey with pieces that range from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” to George Gershwin’s “ Rhapsody in Blue”. Each piece evokes different ideas and feelings which you will put to paper.
Requirements: Students need to have access to paper, markers, crayons, paint, canvas.
Comic Book Opera: Grades K-6
Can you imagine comic books colliding with opera? We can! We will delve into the stories of “comic operas”, listen to arias from famous operas, and create our own comic book using a comic book story board format. Perhaps you decide to change the ending of the opera in your
comic book? Perhaps the characters change? It’s up to you! We will explore operas such as “The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Magic Flute”
Requirements: Students will need access to paper, markers, crayons, paint, canvas. A PDF of a comic book story board will be sent to the student before the class.
Bucket Drumming: Grades 2-3
Grab a bucket and some drum sticks and let’s get drumming! 2nd and 3rd graders students will learn movement and rhythm along with the basics of bucket drumming. The classes include basic percussive rhythms, reading and understanding bucket drumming notation. Bucket songs will include songs such as “La Bamba”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and “Watermelon Sugar”.
Requirements: Students will need access to a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot/Lowes and a pair of drumsticks. Other materials to drum on can be a plastic storage tote, pillow or pot. You can also grab a pair of wooden spoons 🙂

The classes include advanced percussive rhythms, reading and understanding bucket drumming notation. Bucket songs will include songs such as “Pompeii”, and “Watermelon Sugar”.

Music and Movement: Grades K-2
Music and movement provide an important means for spontaneous creativity that comes from the rich and deep inner life of the child. Through music and movement children feel free to create and re-create themselves at will. They try on feelings, expressions, and different ways of being. In doing so, they learn more about who they are. Students will explore rhythmic patterns, musical tempos and moving to different kinds of music.
